It’s my favorite day of the year, Earth Day! Yippee! Last year I hosted a super fun zoom reading of Well Earth Well Me! and this year I’m a wee bit lazier and have a (not at all professional) video reading to share with you and your children.
Sooooo…what on earth are your Earth Day plans? Plant a tree? Pick up some rubbish? Eat some organic veggies? Go outdoors and soak in some nature? If want to partake in an Earth Day activity yet are short on time, I have the perfect solution: A donation to an organization that promotes childhood literacy for underserved communities.
Let me explain. My publisher, Penny Eifrig of Eifrig Publishing, started a nonprofit called Random Acts of Reading. RoAR is dedicated to promoting literacy confidence for children in underserved communities by providing free access to quality books, authors and illustrators, and opportunities to share their own writing and ideas. In preparation for Earth Day RoAR donated 54 cases of books to schools throughout Minnesota. Hundreds of copies of MY BOOK were included in that shipment! Woot! This makes me a very proud Book Mamma.
If you would like to contribute to RoAR and the distribution of my book to even more underserved communities, click here! Thank you. ???
Feel free to leave a comment and share your brilliant Earth Day activity ideas.
Grazie mille amici e Felice giorno della Terra!

This is from my 1st grade teacher:
KENDA,
I ENJOYED YOUR EARTH DAY POST.
YOUR READING THIS YEAR IS AN INTERESTING WAY TO GET CHILDREN INVOLVED IN CARING FOR OUR EARTH.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

Thank you, Mrs. Coy! ?
I live on the Tonawanda Indian Reservation, in Basom NY. There is always a clean up of the roadways on the weekend. There are crews dropped off at various areas to clean up the ditches. I usually clean up my property, along the road, and into the wooded area along the property.
Thank you for all you do, Dolores! We need more folks like you! ?
I forget that it’s Earth Day every year! Happy Earth Day Mrs. Pepper-Swartz.
That’s why I’m here to remind you of these important holidays. Happy Earth Day Mr. Swartz-Pepper. Let’s go pick up some rubbish!
I probably forget because it’s always so close to 4/20. Anyway, I picked up a few plastic items on this morning’s walkie-walk. Yay me!
Yay you oh ya oh you, ya cheeky bugger, ya.
We’ll definitely make this our bedtime story tonight! Happy Earth Day! xoxo
I ? that. Kisses to that sweet boy and Happy Earth Day! xxoo
